Angelique Van Ombergen graduated with a PhD in Medical Sciences from the University of Antwerp, Belgium, in 2017. She continued her research on spaceflight-induced brain changes during a postdoc and is still currently affiliated to the University of Antwerp as visiting professor. She is working at the European Space Agency as Team Lead of the Human Exploration Science Office. In this role, she is responsible for ESA’s life sciences activities to prepare for human space exploration, spanning from biology to human health research across a variety of platforms (bedrest, Concordia, ISS, etc.). Angelique has published several non-fictions books, including 3 children’s books that have been translated in several languages. She’s been awarded several prizes and awards for her work and science communication efforts.
