Spaceport Norway 2023: Navigating Space and Security Amid Global Unrest

Spaceport Norway 2023 centered on the critical theme of "Security," set against the backdrop of global tensions and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The conference underscored the vital role of space infrastructure in modern security strategies, with contributions from key organizations like the US Space Force, European Space Agency (ESA), Norwegian Space Agency (NOSA), Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, EIDEL and many others.

Norway’s strategic position as a gateway to the Arctic was highlighted, emphasizing its importance in space surveillance and defense. High-level discussions explored the intersection of space technology, national security, and global cooperation, with speakers addressing the challenges of space traffic management, cybersecurity, and the militarization of space.

The event celebrated industry leadership, with Ingun Berget, CEO of Andøya Spaceport, receiving the Spaceport Norway Award for her contributions to the space industry. The Spaceport Norway Young Award was presented to Simen Berg for his innovative work, symbolizing the event’s commitment to fostering new talent in the space sector.
