Jim supports NASA headquarters as the lead for the Environmental Controls and Life Support-Crew Health and Performance System Capabilities Leadership Team (ECLSS-CHP SCLT), which is responsible for coordinating technology development across NASA missions. This role includes technical awareness and strategic planning for the life support, environmental monitoring, fire safety, logistics, space suit physiology, countermeasures, exploration medical, radiation protection, food & nutrition, and earth independent human operation capability areas. Previously, he has lead development of ISS flight habitation hardware including the ISS Crew Quarters, urine pretreatment systems, and crew hardware. He has a Mechanical Engineering BS from Boston University and an Environmental Engineering MS from the University of Texas at Austin.
